Childfest 2008
Childfest 2008 Weekend is coming soon with an amazing variety of
wonderful activities for children and parents!
Hundreds came last year to support this noble cause, whose
foundation was established by Mrs. Angela Richards and other
community members to aid many organizations on St. Martin
-St.Maarten, in service to all our children.
This year, on the evening of Saturday, March 15, an exquisite
five-chef dinner is planned to kick off the weekend events,
led by Dino of Temptations whose frequent gastronomique awards
continue to put St. Martin-St.Maarten on the map globally! This
elegant evening of dining, dancing and silent auction bidding
will host 200 guests at Port de Plaissance, where their generous
$200 per person contribution will lead the way towards Childfest's
$100,000 fund-raising goal for this phenomenal weekend.

Subject: Further Evaluation Comments
As another "original" owner, I thought the "evaluation"
comments posted by Barbara and Normand Berlin were right on.
If I may add two of my own:
Housekeeping: Overall, I think the Housekeeping staff does a
good job. However, more often than not, certain soiled items
(dish towels, pot holders, etc.) are removed during the midweek
cleaning and are not replaced. If a replacement item is not
immediately available, then the item in question should be left
in the unit at least until week's end.
Employee Parking: While staying in the lower "B" building
recently, I noticed that a fair number of employees were
parking in the adjacent lot, sometimes even performing
maintenance on their vehicles. Is there not a designated
parking area for employees, which would eliminate crowding
of owner parking areas? Respectfully, Joseph Farina

Hi Judy: just returned from our third annual week 8 and 9
trip and wanted to say how beautiful the stay was:
1. Island was so green and the flowers were extraordinary.
Obviously the wetter than average weather made the island
more beautiful than ever.
2. Check-in/check out was painless and the attitude of the
help staff overall was fantastic.
3. Cathy was, as usual, her charming self at the pool, we
brought her some new bingo cards, anything to help!
4. The service at the Veranda could be improved, their
concept of "island time" was a bit over the top, even
for St Maarten.
5. The whole complex looked great, our sleep four was in
great shape, and the two small maintenance issues were
handled quickly.
6. The new French bakery was "working out the kinks" but
the food was great. Their crepes were to die for!! (Zee Best
at the bottom of the hill still wins the prize though)
7. The Marina area is shaping up slowly..but looking better,
Folks have to understand "it is what it is" and is not going
away so just accept it!
8. The only black mark was a meal at Los Gauchos...bad service,
bad food, complete indifference to the fact we had a party of
10 and were dropping big bucks.
9. The dinner cruise to the Petite Auberge in Marigot remains
our favorite excursion. The cateraman trip to watch the
Regatta was fun also.
We are already looking forward to next year!

Subject: pelican weeks 9 and 10
Just returned from pelican weeks 9 and 10 the resort is
looking beautiful.
The new Marina residences are half done. It seems the people
buying in the new Marina are still keeping their old units
even in the c and d buildings
One problem: Los Gauchos overcharged my daughter's credit
card, told her it was rejected and then overcharged her debit
card--watch out--I don't know if other people have had the
same problem with them.
She was also charged for multiple credit card phone calls
after making only one.
Units were in good shape and the new process of moving by
getting the keys between 8-10 at the old unit worked very well.
